OVC means more current that means motor is taking more current to perform the task
Why motor will take more current
There is something mechanical jam in the axis which is making motor to take more current
Break is applied on motor and you have given command to move.
Motor winding got weak so it is taking more current to perform the task
Some electrical wiring problem
Identify the problem when it is coming during emergency release or power on condition.
Condition 1
A) If alarm comes at power on itself than remove the power cable of the motor and check whether alarm appearing or not, if alarm is still there than its confirm that your amplifier unit is having the fault. Check the power section of the amplifier and its module.
B) If after removal of power cable alarm not appearing then we would need to check the Power cable and motor insulation. Either one of them insulation got weak. Check the Megger of Motor and Power cable, it should be more than 10Mohm, if it is less than this then it’s time for you to do motor rewinding, actually you should check motor Megger quarterly to avoid these kind of problems and if Megger value goes below 100Mohm than you should plan for rewinding.
Identify the problem if it is coming during axis movement
Condition 2
First check in monitor screen how much load is increasing. As per my experience it will shoot up to maximum and alarm will appear.
Friends this is only the difference in excess error and OVC, in excess error motor will rotate with continue load but in OVC motor will not rotate at all.
Now, if its Brake motor than Check the Brake voltage, it should be as per rating.
Check the Brake Resistance it should be as per rating of motor. Generally Fanuc motor 24VDC brake resistance is 30Ohm approx…
Also check the brake releasing sound from the Motor at brake side at emergency release. If it’s ok than Brake is releasing otherwise our Brake is only the culprit.
If all above points are ok, than what we have to identify that problem is appearing either from mechanical or electrical.
So we should do remove the motor coupling and take motor outside. And check you ball screw by rotating by hand it should rotate smoothly. If not check mechanical.
And also try to run motor outside. Beware friends correct the velocity gain to 100 and then only try otherwise motor may take jerk.
If motor running outside ok and mechanical also smooth, than you need to check the parameters. Which I have already explained. Simple load the original parameter backup.
Otherwise try to adjust the parameter by hit and trial method.

(Action)
(1) Make sure that the motor is not vibrating.
_ If a motor vibrates, the current flowing in it becomes more
than necessary, resulting in an alarm.
(2) Make sure that the power lead to the motor is connected correctly.
_ If the connection is incorrect, an abnormal current flows in
the motor, resulting in an alarm.
(3) Make sure that the following parameters are set correctly.
_ An overload alarm is issued based on the result of calculation
of these parameters. Be sure to set them to the standard values.
For details of the standard values, refer to the FANUC AC
SERVO MOTOR αis/αi series Parameter Manual (B-
65270EN).

(4) Attach the check board to connector JX5 to measure the
waveform of the actual current (IR and IS) of the servo amplifier
module. (This check pin board differs from that for the α series.)
Run the motor and measure its actual currents (IR and IS). Then
compare the measurement results with the overload duty curve
shown in “FANUC AC SERVO MOTOR αis/αi series
Descriptions (B-65262EN),” and see whether the machine load is
too heavy compared with the motor capacity. If the actual current
is high on acceleration/deceleration, it is likely that the time
constant is too small.
9055 7n55 Abnormal switching status of power leads 3.4.27
3.4.27 Alarm Code 55
In spindle switching control or output switching control, a mismatch
between the switching request signal (SPSL or RSL) and the power
lead state check signal (MCFN, MFNHG, RCH, or RCHHG) continues
during motor activation.
Troubleshooting when this alarm is issued
(a) The magnetic contactor (switch unit) for power lead switching is
faulty.
If the contact is inoperative, check the power supply of the
magnetic contactor. If the magnetic contactor is still inoperative,
replace the magnetic contactor.
(b) The I/O unit or wiring for checking the contact of the magnetic
contactor is faulty.
If a defect is found in the I/O unit or wiring, replace the I/O unit or
wiring.
(c) The sequence (ladder) is incorrect.
Modify the sequence so that switching is not performed during
activation. For details of the signals, refer to “FANUC SERVO
AMPLIFIER αi series Descriptions (B-65282EN).”
