iKON and ATEEZ to reportedly join the line-up for K-Pop Masterz 2 in Manila next month

Filipino event organisers PULP Live World have teased the line-up for K-Pop Masterz 2 in September, with acts such as iKON and ATEEZ hinted to be joining the line-up.

In a YouTube livestream jointly held on August 4 by Philippines-based event host Kring Kim and event organiser under PULP Live World known by her social media tag @happeehour, a return of the popular K-Pop Masterz in Manila concert was announced, alongside several hints and confirmations of the line-up to be expected.

The duo announced that K-Pop Masterz 2 is slated to be held on September 23, and confirmed YG Entertainment boy group iKON as part of the line-up of performers. In a separate segment of the livestream, both Kring Kim and @happeehour also responded positively to a comment asking about ATEEZ’s potential attendance at the show. However, ATEEZ’s presence at K-Pop Masterz 2 has yet to be officially confirmed.

IKON will be part of the lineup for K-Pop Masterz 2 in Manila set for September 23. Jam-packed October schedule also for K-Pop fans, including a possible show of GOT7’s JAYB. From the #KriPpeeNights YouTube Live https://t.co/Z9rtPgq2uD — Philippine Concerts (@philconcerts) August 4, 2022

Aside from K-Pop Masterz 2, the pair also teased two additional headline shows to arrive in Manila in the next two months. GOT7 member and soloist JAY B, as well as veteran hip-hop trio Epik High were mentioned as having possible shows scheduled for October, however concrete details and confirmations have yet to be disclosed to the public as of writing.

Word of the second iteration of the K-Pop Masterz concert comes shortly after the original concert took place on July 29 at the SM Mall Of Asia Arena in metro Manila. That rendition saw a line-up that featured GOT7 members Jackson Wang and BamBam, as well as YG Entertainment labelmates TREASURE.

These hints of upcoming additions to the roster of live K-pop shows in Manila are the latest in a string of concerts announced to be arriving in the Filipino capital city in the coming months. SUPER JUNIOR are set to take over the SM Mall Of Asia Arena tomorrow (August 6) for their ‘Super Show 9’ tour, while GOT7 member Yugyeom will be holding a show at the New Frontier Theatre on August 19.

Other K-pop concerts announced for September also include (G)I-DLE, Jessi as well as Tomorrow X Together. SEVENTEEN will also be arriving in Manila as part of the Asia leg of their ‘Be The Sun’ world tour in October, however tickets for that show have been sold out.

[PHILIPPINES] Here’s Why iKON Continue Tour in Manila is One For the Books

It’s been a wild ride for Filipino iKONICs to witness the journey of their favorite YG Entertainment boy group iKON. In 2013, they had their first glimpse of these six boys namely B.I, Jinhwan, Bobby, Donghyuk, Yunhyeong, and June in the much-talked-about idol survival show “WIN: Who is Next?” and eventually saw the addition of Chanwoo to the group on “MIX & MATCH” in 2014. For the past five years, these fans have been fully supportive of their idols successes in their activities – win or lose – and have been fervently waiting for them to come and visit the Philippines. Alas, when PULP Live World announced that there would be a Manila leg of iKON Continue Tour, the only reasonable move for them was to attend the concert!

You could say that this momentous event made history for Filipino’s K-pop scene as over 18,000 PH-iKONICs filled the Mall of Asia Arena last November 11, 2018. It was a full house beaming and bleeding with red lights from the Konbats raised, and the joy was evidently overflowing from the fans.

iKON lives up to its name with intense performances

The moment the seven boys jumped out from the stage, all looking dashing and sleek in their red sparkly suits, you could already sense that this show would be worthy of all the agony and excitement of waiting. With songs like ‘BLING BLING’, ‘SINOSIJAK’, ‘KILLING ME’, and ‘FREEDOM’, the distinct discography of iKON was definitely made for concerts like this – eclectic, high-spirited, and powerful.

It’s also impressive to note that iKON highlighted their finely calibrated vocals with their feel-good love songs such as ‘PERFECT’, ‘JUST FOR YOU’, “DON’T LET ME KNOW“, ‘RUBBER BAND’, ‘ONLY YOU’, and ‘COCKTAIL’. Of course, it’s not an iKONCERT without performing the chart-topping and well-loved hit ‘LOVE SCENARIO’. Solo performances from Bobby’s ‘TENDAE’ and B.I’s ‘ONE AND ONLY’ were definitely the extra touches we all needed. We were also in awe of how stable and strong their live vocals were even with the absence of backup singers or a musical ensemble.

The concert lasted for almost three hours, but you wouldn’t even feel the duration as the hype and energy were ever present and alive all throughout the show (you might even want to ask for more of it – it’s that good).

iKONICs delighting the hearts of iKON

Fan projects during concerts are a staple, but what we’ve experienced was probably one of the most glaring proofs of a richly collaborative effort among fanbases. Inspired by their performance in the TV show ‘300′, iKONICs were all bopping and jumping their hearts out to ‘B-DAY’ while raising fan-produced yellow flags! Being able to hype 18,000 people to party in a huge arena means that the stage presence of iKON was truly commendable.

Another thing that warmed the heart of the boys was the “Project Iridescence” where rainbow lights were beautifully orchestrated in each section of the arena. You could see the amazement in iKON’s eyes of wanting to savour this magical moment that they’ve shared with the people who genuinely support them. Appreciation and recognition were expressed by the seven men through endless ‘thank yous’, loud shouts of ‘I love yous’, and genuine smiles that mean “We enjoyed making you happy“.

From the success of this event, we are sure that Manila would remain as a special tour stop for iKON in many years to come. It has been a great pleasure to be part of something historical, and we look forward to more of what this group has in store in the future. We extend our utmost gratefulness to PULP Live World for the invite. 🙂

HIGHLIGHTS: K-pop group iKON heats up Philippine stage

MANILA, Philippines – Filipino iKONICs packed the Mall of Asia Arena on Sunday, November 11 to see Korean pop group iKON perform their hits for the very first time on Philippine soil.

Way before showtime, the crowd was so excited for the concert that they started singing along to the iKON songs being played in the background – with fan chants to boot.

Members B.I (Kim Han-bin), Jay (Kim Jin-hwan), Song (Song Yun-hyeong), Bobby (Kim Ji-won), DK (Kim Dong-hyuk), Ju-ne (Koo Jun-hoe), and Chan (Jung Chan-woo) opened their show with “Bling Bling,” “Sinosijak” (a pre-debut song which the group also released in 2018), and “Rhythm Ta.”

During their introductions, member Jay said he has a special tie with the Philippines since he stayed in Davao before. He and the rest of the members went on to greet the fans with a few Filipino words before resuming the show with “Cocktail” and “Only You.”

After the group performance, iKON’s vocal line left the stage while rappers B.I and Bobby stayed to play a quick game with the audience. They divided the crowd into two teams and did a little competition on which team can sing “Love Scenario” the loudest.

When it sounded like a draw, B.I and Bobby played rock-paper-scissors instead to determine the winner. Bobby lost and shouted “Saranghae” (I love you) without his microphone, much to the delight of the fans.

Remember this “Love Scenario” battle? Watch how B.I won and what Bobby had to do after he lost #iKONinManila pic.twitter.com/hCrbctQQa7 — Jee Y. Geronimo (@jeegeronimo) November 14, 2018

The two left the stage after the game and vocals Jay, Song, DK, Ju-ne, and Chan returned to sing “Perfect.”

Then it was time for the rappers’ solo stages. First up was Bobby, with “Tendae” from his solo album Love and Fall. B.I then sang his solo song from the Return album, “One and Only,” before Bobby joined him onstage for “Anthem.”

By the end of “Anthem,” the rest of the group joined the two to sing their iconic line: “iKON is coming to town!” The group later performed “B-DAY,” “My Type” (where Jay adorably told the fans “Sakin ka na lang!”), and “Rubber Band.”

They then sang “Best Friend,” “Everything” and the much awaited song “Love Scenario” before ending with “Goodbye Road,” “Killing Me,” and “Freedom.”

When iKON left the stage, the fans turned off their Konbats (iKON’s light stick), turned their cellphone lights on, and filled the arena with rainbow lights. They also sang the chorus of “Don’t Forget” together while waiting for the boys to return for the encore.

For their encore, iKON met their fans up close as they sang “Just For You,” “Love Scenario,” “Don’t Let Me Know,” “Dumb & Dumber,” and “B-DAY.” During one of the songs, the boys asked the fans to put their phones down so they can see their fans’ faces.

Jay, who called the Philippines his second home, said he fell deeper and deeper in love with the country throughout the show.

“You guys are the best!” the boys said before taking their final bow.
